Our Name Is Our Mission Statement
"Affordable Technology"

*** TEMPORARY WEB PAGE ***

Affordable Technology is an independent IT consultancy, also engaged in the development of software that interfaces with the new consumer grade EEG headsets. While broadly categorised as “Brain Computer Interface” programs, the primary focus of our ‘Neuro’ projects is directed towards helping individuals whose quality of life has been impaired either through accident or illness.

Affordable Technology’s principal, Paul Taylor, has worked in the computer industry since its birth in the late 70's. Being one of the first five hobbyist to construct the world’s first DIY Personal Computer (the Educ8), Paul became addicted to custom computer design and has extensive experience in both Hardware and Software design and development.

Primarily involved in the development of control systems for remote visual inspection vehicles (ROV’s), like the one sent to the recent New Zealand mine disaster.

Earlier projects include some of the first ‘Talking Computers’ in the 80’s, custom developed for several individuals with severe visual impairment, enabling them to use the early IBM XT and AT computers. Since those early days, Paul has eagerly awaited the development of an economical brain interface in the hope of assisting others.

Important Notice!

Due to unexpected health issues, development of the NeuroVault, NeuroKey, NeuroDetect and an associated private project had to be suspended abruptly.  Even though there were over 1000 users in some 30+ countries, the programs had not reached sufficient maturity to be self funding and ongoing personal medical expenses combined with a reduced income made it economically impossible for me to continue funding the project over the past year.

While I am sorry to have postponed development, it is sincerely regretted that there were several individuals who were particularly disappointed because the project had so much to offer them.

Neuro-Projects Development to Resume

I remain committed to the development of affordable and effective software for EEG headsets such as the NeuroSky MindSet and the Emotiv Epoc.  I am now at the initial stage of reviving the project, starting with this interim WEB page.

The main task ahead will be setting up development and test systems for the project as well as updating to the latest EEG headsets and manufacturer’s development API’s and drivers etc.  Once this is complete, and I have been able to rebuild the various programs, updates will be posted.

New Updates:

The first updates will enable new and existing owners of the Emotiv Epoc to update their expired copies of the programs.  Because there is a lot to done, it’s too early to give a date on when these updates will be available, however they are not expected to be posted before March 31st.  I’d suggest checking this site in ten days (March 10th) at which time I will have posted a more accurate date.
